Jackson and Zoe. Who am I? Group therapy for confidence

Jackson feels like he’s sleepwalking through life: he doesn’t make choices – the choices make him. His job is boring; he feels exploited. He doesn’t speak much: only his mother knows him

Now in middle-age he’s taking stock. Has he ever done anything he actually wanted to do? What would that be? Who am I?

In the group Jackson pushes back when Zoe says that nobody ‘gets’ her: How are we meant to ‘get’ you if you never speak?

Jackson then laughs at himself. He too gets annoyed that people don’t seem to understand him

Zoe opens up on how she feels disappointed in people. She starts to see that she’s expecting adult life to mirror her childhood, where she didn’t need to explain herself to feel loved and understood

Jackson and Zoe realise that they have similar issues. In the group they start to talk about normal matters from the week just passed

Their lives change

Jackson leaves his dull job, and Zoe starts a new relationship
